Skip unwanted rows with junk filters

Use the Restrictions (Junk Filter) step to drop test rows, zero-stock or incomplete products before import — with a Quick Scan impact estimate.

What junk filters do

The Restrictions (Junk Filter) step keeps rows you don't want out of the import — test products, zero-stock rows, listings without images. The rules are a skip-list: rows that match are dropped, everything else imports.

Build your rules

The step reads as a sentence: "Skip product if all / any of these match:" — choose whether a row must match every rule or just one. Each rule is a mapped column, an operator and (usually) a value. Operators:

• Is Empty / Is Not Empty (no value needed)
• Equals / Does Not Equal
• Contains / Does Not Contain
• Is Less Than / Is Greater Than (numeric)

Text comparisons ignore case and surrounding spaces. Add up to 10 rules with + Add Rule; each column can be used once.

Quick Scan tells you the impact before you import

As you edit rules, the Quick Scan strip updates: "These rules will skip approx. N of your M rows." The estimate runs against a sample of your file (the first 100 rows) and scales the result to the file's full row count — so treat it as a good approximation, not an exact count.

Shopify has its own junk filter

Importing from Shopify replaces this step with Scope & Restrictions: choose Import all active products or only specific Collections or Tags, then add skip rules over Shopify fields (Title, Tag, Vendor, Status, Price, Quantity, Images) with its own Quick Scan. See Import products from Shopify.
