Smart Pricing: automated repricing rules

The Automate Pricing page: sales-velocity and competitor-price strategies, guardrails, one-rule-per-marketplace scoping and the approval workflow.

Automated repricing with guardrails

The Automate Pricing page (Smart Pricing, as the notifications call it) runs pricing rules over your catalog on a schedule: lower or raise prices based on how products sell, or undercut the cheapest rival offer — always inside safety guardrails you define, and with the option to approve every change by hand.

How a repricing rule runs: scope picks the products, the strategy proposes a price, guardrails clamp it, then it auto-applies or waits for approval Scope every marketplace, or one marketplace / country Strategy Sales velocity Competitor price Safety guardrails min / max price margin over cost max change per run Auto-apply pushed to the marketplace Pending queue you approve or reject Each marketplace is owned by its most specific active rule, so overlapping rules never fight. Global-scope rules always queue for review.
Every proposal passes the guardrails before it goes anywhere.

The Automate Pricing page

It's a two-pane view: your Repricing rules on the left (searchable), the selected rule's detail on the right. The detail pane shows the rule at a glance — Strategy, Runs ("Once every day"…), its thresholds, Guardrails ("min 5, max 50, ≥20% margin, ≤10% / run"), and Rollout ("Applied automatically" or "Queued for review") — plus a live activity line: when it last ran and how many changes it applied or has pending. Buttons: Pause/Activate, Edit (opens an edit panel), Delete.

Two more header tools:

  • Pending Price Changes — the approval queue; see Review and approve price changes.
  • Market Lookup (Amazon) — a live competitive summary for any ASIN: Buy Box, offer depth and reference prices, including products you don't list yet.

The two strategies

  • Sales velocity — "adjust prices by units sold over a lookback window": lower the price when sales fall below your threshold, raise it when they beat your target.
  • Competitor price — "undercut the cheapest rival offer". On Amazon that's the live featured offer (Buy Box); on eBay rivals are matched by barcode and compared on total cost including postage — a product with no UPC, EAN or ISBN is left alone rather than matched by guesswork.

One rule per marketplace

Rules have a scope — every marketplace, one marketplace, or one marketplace + country. Each marketplace is owned by exactly one rule: the most specific active rule that covers it. That means a global rule and an eBay-UK rule never fight over the same products.
